Yet again, this website has changed. This time is the last time, though (have you heard that before?). It may seem frivolous to change so much, but when it comes to indie websites, and my own personal preferences, change and experimentation is constant. This time, I'm experimenting with Cobalt. It's a static site generator (or SSG) built for markdown blogs. Nuxt was pretty good for serving the same purpose, but was starting to feel overkill for what I really needed.

Bloat

I like web frameworks. They make the process of using javascript incredibly less painful. Being able to programatically create HTML blocks out of dynamic data is so much easier when you have a massive library of functions to pull from.

I want to delete my Google accounts and remove my information from their hands. Unfortunately, I once used passkeys for both of my accounts that I no longer have access to. These were stored in Bitwarden, which I deleted then re-made in Proton Pass. Recently, I've migrated away from Proton in favor of Bitwarden and Startmail. In short, I lost the passkeys.

I watched The Odyssey (2026) in theaters over the summer, and I liked it. A few months later, I downloaded a copy of it thinking that it was a web download, when the movie had, in fact, not even come out on streaming yet. I didn't check the video file itself once it was done; I'm a fiend for data so I kind of just shoved it into my home server's hard drives.

After I installed LazyVim it became the best code editor I have ever used. There is a possible next step, EMACS, but I haven't gotten there yet. On top of that, my preferred shell is now Ghostty. I was using Konsole, but splitting the terminal into multiple windows is GUI-driven in that program. With Ghostty, I configured keybindings to create new panels and switch between them. Now, my development experience is purely keyboard-driven. If you want to see how I configured it, maybe even suggest changes, it's available here.

I highly recommend that you read the whole thing to have context for what I talk about in this post. In truth, I think this article forced me to look inwards and see my true beliefs. For a while now, every time I've used an LLM, I've felt a deep-seated sense of hypocrisy. I do not want to be replaced by AI, I do not want software engineers to be replaced by AI and I certainly do not want my friends to be replaced by AI. And yet, I continued to use it.

They are dense networks of organic material constantly firing of electrical signals to create reality as we know it. Not even computers or large language models come close to the levels of "computation" that our brains achieve. It's incredibly to ponder this subject; humans have learned so much about the world around us, about biology, mathematics, physics, yet we know so little about the brain. We don't even fully understand why we need to sleep.

I still remember thinking that deleting the shortcut for a game from my desktop would erase it entirely from the computer.

Supposedly, it is an an effort to "protect children." All these politicians want, though, is more control. There is no way to stop the distribution of anything on the Internet, only take down the major fronts.

This means that side loading, the process of installing apps via non-official channels, is essentially dead. The point of Android is to be a free and open operating system for mobile devices, which does not only mean mobile phones. For example, the Meta Quest VR headsets use Android as their operating system. This move by Google jeopardizes freedom for more than just mobile phones; they have made it more difficult for developers to work on any technology that utilizes Android.

There's a phrase that many people aware of this issue will repeat: "You will own nothing and be happy." Essentially, the Internet is becoming more centralized. We rely on a handful of websites that offer similar services usually for free with minimal effort required by the end user. The Internet is meant to be a decentralized system, where users access disparate parts of the Internet instead of going to one singular source.

As a disclaimer, I don't like cryptocurrency for the meme coins or the NFTs. Crypto, at its core, is meant to be an anonymous, decentralized way for people to pay for things. For example, with USDC, you can send money to others without a central bank involved and without the volatility that comes with traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. If online storefronts did not rely so heavily on centralized payment processors like Visa and MasterCard, nobody would be able force storefronts to censor anything. Further, since crypto is decentralized, nobody can control what consumers purchase with it.

You could get anything for free on the Internet, if you tried hard enough. But people pay for subscription services anyways. People could go to the grocery store and buy ingredients for all of their food, yet they go to fast food stores or heat up frozen meals. While paying for convenience may save time, the price might not just be monetary - it may also affect health, wellness, or attention span. As the body gets used to its desires being met immediately, it starts to wear away. There really is nothing like doing it yourself.

When I see computer kiosks, or tech kiosks in general, I cringe at the site of all of the hardware. The idea that anyone needs multiple devices for any kind of computing work is false. That, of course, automatically makes me a hypocrite because I am an owner of multiple, likely too many, different devices. The other truth is that consumer hardware hasn't been developed to support this one device mentality. In fact, it's likely the opposite.

It is a completely unprofitable mess, yet it is still held up by sticks and duct tape thanks to the company that owns it. I think that video sharing should be given back to the people. The majority of people already engage in the actual sharing (also known as piracy) of videos anyways. Why can't user-generated media be shared the same way?

I have once taken a picture of my workspace in my apartment because I liked the way the light was shining on my Steelseries keyboard. I'm even following r/keyboards where people affectionately post about their favorite keebs. Keyboards really are one of the best and most important aspects of the computer, if you think about it. It is the premier way to interact with a computer.

It has basically been my drug. It is playable on steam deck, but not in handheld mode. The graphics are really bad, but I did say playable, not great. And not being able to play in handheld mode isn't that big of a deal since the game doesn't support controllers anyways.

I'm talking about the superheroes that we know and love -- the characters that populate our imaginations on the screen, comic book page, and written word. The humans with impossible abilities made possible by extraordinary circumstances. I have been intaking a lot of superhero content recently, such as Invincible, Marvel Comics, and most recently the latest Marvel movie,
Thunderbolts*
.

More specifically, I'm fascinating with how information is handled by them. Information is not just handled by computers, though. It's also handled by our brains. Before I knew that I wanted to study information technology, I wanted to study cognitive science. The way humans communicate, how we leave each other with "pieces" of information with words, is a wonderful topic. I don't know if I'm going to be able to explain how I fully think about these ideas, but I'm going to try my best.

If you get tired of me filling your inbox with the propaganda of my mind, then you can easily unsubscribe. All of the features I wanted to have on this site are now here. I finally have the foundation I wanted to leave my thoughts and creations. Now I just have to do the creating.

I have seen it change from a niche platform for voice chat to a massive social media platform. It is no longer just an application for voice/text chat. It is a money making machine. In my opinion, Discord is quickly descending down the slippery slope of becoming a public company. They are not interested in providing a platform for people to talk to their friends any more. They are in the business of hashing out corporate sponsorships and grabbing the bag.

Normally, I would not be so excited for a vehicle of any sort. This even breaks with my own rule of never pre-ordering anything (this isn't really a pre-order though, more like an expression of interest), but this truck and the people making it have spoken to what I value in technology. This truck does nothing no other vehicle on the market has done: I see my core values reflected through its design.

I don't want to get into discussing the ethics or reasoning for piracy again; instead, I want to talk about reading in the information age. E-readers have transformed the way many people, well, read. No longer do people have to physically acquire a book to obtain its knowledge. Digital copies can be purchased (although they really shouldn't be) and downloaded onto an electronic device to be immediately opened and read. I will not deny that being able to smell the paper and flip the pages can be integral to the experience of reading a book, but it can also not be denied that e-books provide a far more efficient way to distribute knowledge. For that reason, I want to teach you how to participate in this new way to read.

It mostly consists of synthwave, electronic, ambient, and indie rock. I remember being adverse to listening to any music with lyrics in it. I would strictly listen to music posted on the YouTube channel Electronic Gems. This is when I was exposed to the likes of HOME and Hello Meteor. My tastes have evolved, but I have never really moved on from my original favorites.

They could publish posts to it that, word for word, copy my thoughts and ideas. That would be plagiarism, not piracy. I think a lot of people seem to conflate plagiarism and piracy. In my opinion, "piracy" is not a good term for what it has become. It has too much of a negative connotation to it for a perfectly innocent act.

I think that the state of these lectures has severely gone downhill ever since the pandemic in 2020. It's hard to pin-point exactly what is wrong with them, but to me, it seems that many students lack motivation to participate in class. This is often regardless of modality. In one of my online classes, for example, the professor only receives participation in the beginning of class, when he takes attendance. Once the lecture starts, it's almost like he assumes no one else is going to speak. He just keeps talking and asks rhetorical questions out of habit.

For about the past 6 months I have eaten 3 eggs every other day. My two favorite ways to cook them are frying and scrambling. I used to be a scrambled egg purist before my grandparents lent me their electric griddle. Now I usually fry them in the mornings before I workout since it's a lot faster.
